Marcella Dawson
The arts and sciences are often seen as separate, but some students, such as Sound Recording Technology major Marcella Dawson, above, are immersed in both as they complete their degree programs.

SUNY Fredonia will present an interdisciplinary roundtable discussion focusing on productive cross-fertilizations between the arts and humanities and the natural and social sciences. This event will take place at noon on Wed., May 6, in Room S104 of the Williams Center.

In this event, part of the Brown Bag Lecture Series, faculty from across campus will share their experiences engaging concepts and practices from other disciplines to enrich their scholarship and teaching.

The discussion, to be introduced and moderated by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Virginia Horvath, will include the following panelists: Dr. David Ewing, Dean of Natural and Social Sciences; Dr. Robert Deemer, School of Music; Dr. Natalie Gerber, English; Dr. Jon Titus, Biology; Dr. Ivani Vassoler, Political Science and International Studies; and Dr. Julia Wilson, Mathematical Sciences.

The Brown Bag Lecture series, sponsored by the College of Arts and Humanities, offers informal talks on the first Wednesday of each academic month, October through May, featuring new creative and scholarly work by members of the SUNY Fredonia faculty. Each talk and/or presentation is followed by a brief discussion. Refreshments will be served, and all members of the campus and community are welcome to attend.

For more information on the lecture series, please contact Natalie Gerber, series director, at 716-673-3855 or at natalie.gerber@fredonia.edu.
