Xin Fan, assistant professor of East Asian history, was the recipient of a postdoctoral fellowship in humanities jointly founded by the Volkswagen Foundation and the Andrew Mellon Foundation. Dr. Fan spent the past summer conducting research on world history in China at the University of Göttingen as a fellow of the Platform for Global and Transregional Studies.
With the funding support from the Volkswagen Foundation and the Andrew Mellon Foundation, Fan is organizing an international conference, “Conceptions of the World in Twentieth-Century Chinese Historiography,” to be held Oct 26 and 27 at the University of Göttingen. Leading scholars from America, Asia and Europe will speak at the event.
