Brittany Feldman (Jamestown/Southwestern) moved up the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field qualifying women's 400-meter list Friday in her final tuneup before nationals.

Competing at the Allegheny College Gator Invitational, the junior sprinter set a Robertson Field record with a winning time of 55.86 seconds. It's the fastest time in the Atlantic Region and the seventh fastest in Division III this spring. The top 22 women in each event qualify for the national meet May 25 to May 27 at The Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

While Feldman was writing her ticket to nationals, Mikayla Capestrani (Jamestown/Jamestown) was breaking her own school outdoor pole vault record. A junior, Capestrani cleared 11 feet, 8 1/2 inches to finish tied for fifth Friday. It was 2 3/4 inches higher than she went earlier this month.

In the men's pole vault, Justyn Haines (Albion/Albion) cleared 15 feet, 3 1/2 inches to finish third. It was a personal-best for Haines.
