Jamila Smith, a first-year Geology major, has been selected to participate in the Brown University Summer Research-Early Identification Program.

She will be studying marine magnetic anomalies and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge under the direction of Dr. Colleen A. Dalton and Dr. Timothy D. Herbert of the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Brown University.

The SR-EIP program includes her travel, on-campus lodging for nine weeks, and a stipend. She will present her research at The Leadership Alliance National Symposium in Hartford, Ct., in late July.
