Hillel, the campus' Jewish student organization, will be celebrating Jewish History Month starting April 1 with several campus events.
- On Wednesday, April 1 in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room at 8 p.m., there will be BIN-GLOW, described as glow-in-the-dark highlighter Bingo, co-sponsored with Latinos Unidos. There will be snacks and prizes and no tickets are necessary.
- On Friday, April 10 in the Williams Center Horizon Room at 6:30 p.m., there will be a kosher Moroccan Shabbat Dinner, co-sponsored with the Black Student Union. Free tickets will be available in the Fredonia Ticket Office starting Monday, March 30.
- On Monday, April 20, in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room at 2:30 p.m., a Holocaust speaker will be coming to share stories.
- On Thursday, April 23 in the Williams Center Horizon Room at 6:30 p.m., a Chocolate Seder and a presentation on Passover is scheduled.
- On Saturday, April 25 in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room at 8 p.m., there will be dancing, music, food and fun. It is being described by organizers as a mock Bar Mitzvah party.
- On Wednesday, April 29 in Williams Center Room S204ABC at 3 p.m., Distinguished Teaching Professor Theodore Steinberg from the Department of English will speak at the month’s closing ceremonies.
All events are free and open to the public.
Hillel is a group designed to provide a caring community for people interested in Judaism. It provides programs to educate its members and the campus community about Jewish culture, history and heritage. Hillel has been a part of the campus community for a long time, and was formerly known as Jewish Student Union. Over the years, Hillel has made it its mission to educate and raise awareness about the Jewish Culture. People of all faiths and beliefs are encouraged to become involved in the organization.
