Fredonia has entered into a new study abroad agreement with the Study in Portugal Network (SiPN), a project of the non-profit Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD). SiPN provides its students with housing and support in the heart of one of Europe's best loved cities.
In addition to a tremendous amount of history, students can explore Lisbon's trendy art, food, and music scenes, and also experience living on the coast. The rest of Europe is easily accessible from Lisbon, and there's lots to see and do in Portugal.
The agreement will allow students to participate in semester and short-term study abroad programs in Portugal's capital city, Lisbon. The program allows students to take classes at any of the four member universities in the SiPN network: ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, University of Lisbon, Catholic University of Portugal and NOVA University of Lisbon. Additionally, students interested in summer classes or for-credit internships may participate in various short-term summer programs.
Course work is available in a variety of disciplines, including Natural Sciences, Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Art. Courses are taught in English but students may also take Portuguese language courses as part of their study. Students will be enrolled in courses with Portuguese students and other students from all over the world.
The Office of International Education anticipates that students may begin to participate in the program starting Spring 2017. Students can learn how to apply and receive more information about the program through the Office of International Education at international.education@fredonia.edu. They can also visit SiPN’s website to find out more about the program, classes and living in Lisbon, at http://www.studyinportugalnetwork.com/
