Valuable information about job opportunities in health care and the education needed to pursue careers in these fields will be offered to Chautauqua County high school students at the second annual Health Career Fair on Friday, Oct. 6.
Brooks Memorial Hospital, Chautauqua Center, WCA Home and Chautauqua Opportunities will be among local health care providers that will have representatives available to meet informally with students at the fair to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Science Center.
“Students will have the opportunity to learn about various medical professions from nursing to physicians. They will also be able to learn about the roles of health care providers in Chautauqua County and see what types of health careers may be of interest to them,” said Ted Lee, professor of Biology and chair of Fredonia’s Health Professions Advising Committee.
Last year’s inaugural fair attracted over 60 students from Brocton, Forestville, the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), Silver Creek and Westfield schools and Job Corps. A counselor from Westfield Academy and Central School praised the event, noting that students had an exciting time learning about careers, opportunities and programs.
Organizers are looking forward to even greater turnout from students.
The fair is free and open to any high school students interested in careers in the health professions.
