The departments of History, and Politics and International Affairs, will host speaker Andrew Zapfel, an international development professional in health and human rights on Friday, May 1 from noon to 1 p.m., in Williams Center Room S204 ABC.

For students interested in learning about the paths to careers in public health, public policy, human rights advocacy, and international development and aid, Mr. Zapfel will provide commentary about his career path in his presentation, followed by a question and answer session. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch. The event is free and open to the public.

Originally a Political Science and African American Studies major at the University of Buffalo, Zapfel currently works for Futures Group International, a global health consulting firm working in close partnership with global and local leaders and communities to protect and promote health and well-being. He has worked with several different organizations in different capacities including the Human Rights Campaign, United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Global Affairs and World Vision International. Zapfel has extensive experience working in countries across the globe including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa and the U.S. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
