The group attended lectures and had numerous experiential learning opportunities. Excursions included a glacier hike, a visit to ice caves and lava tubes, a hot spring hunt, spending time in Viking settlements, observing geysers, and a hike to the Hyallar fault system, the mid-Atlantic ridge, Burfell volcano, Blue Lagoon, Solheimar and Myvatn.
Participants also explored the cultural life of the capital city of Reykjavik, a thriving center of art, music and more. The faculty leader of the study abroad experience was Dr. Iclal Vanwesenbeeck of the Department of English, who was joined on the trip by Professor Jon Titus of the Department of Biology.
