Andrew Zapfel, an international development professional working in the areas of health and human rights, will be speaking at the Williams Center G103B on Friday, March 6 from noon to 1 p.m.

Originally a Political Science and African American Studies major at the University of Buffalo, Mr. Zapfel currently works for Futures Group International, a global health consulting firm working in close partnership with global and local leaders and communities to protect and promote people's health and well-being. He has worked with several different organizations in different capacities including the Human Rights Campaign, United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Global Affairs and World Vision International. Zapfel has extensive experience working in countries across the globe including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa and the U.S. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.

For students interested in learning more about the paths to careers in public health, public policy, human rights advocacy, and international development and aid, Zapfel’s presentation will also include commentary about his own career path in the fields.

The presentation, hosted by the departments of History and Politics and International Affairs, will be followed by a question and answer session with Zapfel. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch.
