Associate Professor Jessica Hillman of the Department of Theatre and Dance will be working on her current book project - editing and contributing chapters to a book tentatively entitled, “Digital Broadway: Musical Theatre in the Computer Age,” during her sabbatical.
Dr. Hillman has 14 confirmed contributors who are leaders in the world of musical theatre scholarship. In the final proposal stage, she has received expressions of interest from a major scholarly publisher.
During her sabbatical she plans to edit the contributors' chapters, finish her own chapter and ready the full manuscript for publication. She will also present on this topic at the national conference in the field, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE).
In addition to the book project, she is also studying advanced jazz dance with master teacher Nancy Cranborne and performing several new pieces in Boulder, Colo., with One Big Yes Productions.
Hillman noted that both activities will enrich her teaching of Musical Theatre history and performance at Fredonia.
