Mike Igoe and Roslin Smith, assistant professors of Communication, will receive a video award for their production, “Good Storytelling,” at a screening and award ceremony to be held at the Broadcast Education Association’s 15th annual convention on April 23 in Las Vegas, Nev.
“Good Storytelling” won Best Educational Video honors at the BEA’s 2017 Festival of Media Arts, the largest digital media and broadcast competition in America, with over 1,450 entries representing over 175 colleges and universities.
Aimed at journalism students, the video demonstrates the importance of good video storytelling, not just during the news gathering process but also during the editing phase. It also highlights mistakes to avoid along the way. Mr. Igoe wrote, produced and hosted “Good Storytelling,” while Ms. Smith, as an associate producer, re-edited several sequences and updated the music tracks.
The BEA convention will be held at the Westgate Hotel and Conference Center.
