International aromas and the flavorful discussion that it brings will fill Lanford House during the International Faculty Cooking Series held on the first Monday of each month during the spring semester. The lone scheduling exception is the first luncheon, slated for Monday, Jan. 25.

At these informal noon-time gatherings, an international faculty member-turned-chef and fellow American sous chefs will collaborate in the kitchen of the President’s house and cook a meal. Accompanying conversation will encompass hospitality and food traditions in their respective cultures.

The series, which was introduced at the end of the fall semester, creates new opportunities for casual and meaningful interaction between faculty and staff, while also complementing Fredonia’s global vision.

Faculty members scheduled to present their culinary skills and talents this semester are: Drs. Iclal Vanwesenbeeck (Turkish food), Shazad Mohammed (Caribbean food), Chiara De Santi (Italian food), Tedi Cox (Bulgarian food), and Ivani Vassoler-Froelich (Brazilian food) with a special session on baking.

With the exception of the Jan. 25 gathering, the noon to 1:30 p.m. lunches will be held on the first Monday of each month (Feb. 1, March 7, April 4 and May 2). The Professional Development Center will accept registration for each lunch on a first-come basis following an Academic Affairs announcement on the faculty/staff listserv. Lunch guests are welcomed to make a donation.

Faculty members interested in participating in the series are asked to contact Dr. Iclal Vanwesenbeeck at Iclal.vanwesenbeeck@fredonia.edu.
