Michael Jabot, professor of Science Education, received the Champion of Teacher Development Award by the Science Teachers Association of New York State.
The award was presented at the most recent annual conference that took place from Nov. 6 to 9 at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester.
Dr. Jabot received the award for his efforts to promote continued professional learning of science teachers. His efforts were recognized for his local, regional, and statewide contributions, as well as his contributions to national and international efforts in the science teacher development.
One of the nominators for the award noted, “Mike may be one of the most selfless people I know. There has never been a time when I’ve needed help and Mike has not gone above and beyond what could have even been reasonably asked. Truly a very special person who’s efforts are only topped by his humility.”
The Science Teachers Association of New York State’s annual conference is a four-day event that brings together science education professionals for a series of workshops, discussions and fun science-themed activities.
