Marissa Cussins (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post West) scored with 22 seconds left as No. 20 Fredonia survived Oneonta's upset bid, 10-9, in SUNYAC women's lacrosse Saturday.

Up 6-3 early in the second half, the Blue Devils saw their lead evaporate and the game turn into a see-saw struggle hinging on every possession. A unsuccessful clear by Oneonta and a ground-ball pickup by Fredonia's Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) with just over one minute left set up the game-winning goal by Cussins.

It was the third goal of the game and the team-leading 51st of the season for Cussins, who also had an assist. Yokopovich had two goals. Five other Blue Devils had one goal each. Among them, Katie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) and her sister Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) also had one assist.

Katie Kleine also had three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Yokopovich won five draw controls and caused turnovers.

Fredonia freshman goalkeeper Nicole Burrows (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was credited with 13 saves while improving her team's and her personal record to 12-2 and 5-1 in the SUNYAC. The loss dropped Oneonta to 3-3 in the SUNYAC and 6-9 overall.

Next up for Fredonia is a Tuesday home game against Buffalo State. Game time is 4 p.m.
