Students can obtain information on the joint B.A./MPA program between Fredonia and Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy of the State University of New York at Albany, as well as career opportunities in public affairs and policy, at an informal session on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Williams Center Room G103-C .
Jaclyn Napoleon, director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions at Rockefeller, and Fredonia graduate Cory Loomis, who majored in Political Science and is now enrolled in Rockefeller’s Master of Arts in Public Affairs degree program, will meet with interested students.
The B.A./MPA program allows eligible Fredonia students to earn streamlined admission to the Rockefeller program. Three graduate courses will count double – for both the Fredonia B.A. and the Rockefeller MPA. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) will also be waived for qualifying students.
Rockefeller has an excellent pipeline of employers, including state, local, and federal agencies and offices, as well as non-profits and for-profit consulting firms. The placement rate for MPA graduates over the past three years is over 96 percent within nine months of graduation, with an average starting salary of over $52,000.
The event, free and open to students, is jointly sponsored by the Department of Politics and International Affairs and the Career Development Office. Refreshments will be furnished by the CDO.
Rockefeller is ranked in the top 20 nationally in a variety of specializations, including Nonprofit Management, Local Government Management, Homeland Security, Health Policy, Healthcare Management, Information Strategy and Management, Policy Analytic Methods, Organizational Behavior and Theory, Financial Management and Public Economics, Human Resources Management and Financial Market Regulation.
