Senior Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y./Newark) dominated play on both ends of the court Dec. 30 as the Fredonia women's basketball team turned back Pitt-Bradford, 84-50. She put up 26 points on 11 of 14 shooting and grabbed 19 rebounds, 17 coming on the defensive end. The numbers were career highs for Macaulay.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selected her on Jan. 4 as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week and D3hoops.com also recognized her on the national Team of the Week.

She was far from a one-woman-show, as freshman Jenna Einink (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake) scored 15, grabbed 16 boards and had a game-high five assists. Junior Alexis Cheatham (Lockport/Lockport) added 18 points -- including four three-pointers -- and four assists. Jacque Law (Machias/Pioneer) and Khee Nance (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) had nine points apiece.

The game started off even, tied 7-all mid-way through the first quarter. Fredonia rattled off the next 13 points and never looked back. They led 26-11 after one quarter, and 50-24 at the half.

The Devils shot a sizzling 56 percent from the floor, which offset their struggles from the line where they were eight of 19 (42 percent). Bradford shot 28 percent from the floor and was just three of eight from the line. Fredonia dominated the boards, 63-37.

The win improves the Devils to 7-2, while Bradford falls to 6-4. The Panthers received 14 points from Kasey Stringer and 12 from Abby Brate.

The Devils resume SUNYAC play, traveling to Geneseo Jan. 5.
