Two SUNY Fredonia associate professors were co-writers of a chapter on co-teaching practices that was included in “Research-Based Practices in Special Education,” a new book that provides research-validated practices in teaching students with disabilities.

Dr. Kathleen Magiera, of Curriculum & Instruction, and Dr. Rhea Simmons, of Language, Learning and Leadership, were invited by Dr. Naomi Zigmond, of the University of Pittsburgh, to join her as co-writers of the chapter, “Strategies for Improving Student Outcomes in Co-Taught General Education Classes.” Dr. Victoria Volonino, of the University of Pittsburgh, was also a co-author of the chapter.

The peer-reviewed book, published by the Prentice Hall Higher Education Division, was edited by Dr. Bryan G. Cook and Dr. Melody Tankersley, professors of Special Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Kent State University, respectively. It is geared to school districts, colleges and universities.
