To celebrate Pi Day, the Department of Mathematical Sciences will host a series of events on Monday, March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room 209.

The year’s Pi Day theme is based on Disney’s popular movie, “Finding Nemo.” The starting event will be an “Under the Sea” scavenger hunt, followed by “Just Keep Solving,” a math race. Other events to follow are “Dori’s Equivalent Expressions Short Term Memory Recall,” “Fish are Friends not Food” and “All Drains Lead to the Ocean.” Winners of ‘Pi’nding Nemo will receive the “Pi Cup” and t-shirts.

Teams of four to six members are welcome on a first come first served basis. Each team is asked to select a team captain. Team captains will meet in the Fishbowl in the department from noon to 1 the day of the event to pick up scavenger hunt details for their team. Students interested in participating in the underwater adventure can sign up until Thursday, March 10 on a bulletin board near the Fishbowl.

There will be snacks and refreshments at the event. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish to pass.
