School of Business Associate Professor Susan McNamara recently received the annual Pam Lydic Coalition Builder Award, an honor named in memory of the first president and CEO of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce.

The award is bestowed upon individuals who have focused energy on bringing people together in working towards a common goal and moving the local region in a positive direction.

Dr. McNamara teaches courses in strategic management, organizational behavior and entrepreneurship, coordinates internships and advises the Fredonia chapter of Enactus, an international non-profit organization of student leaders that strives to create a better, more sustainable world through entrepreneurial actions.

The chamber’s executive board was particularly impressed with McNamara’s work with Enactus, viewing it as a way for students to collaborate and work on projects while also instilling leadership skills in a new generation of business students.

McNamara’s work to create an opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in academic spaces in the context of local businesses and nonprofit organizations made her worthy of winning the award, the board concluded.
