The Fredonia men's cross country team placed third of 10 teams in the SUNYAC Championship Meet held at Letchworth State Park on Saturday. Sophomore Ethan Francis (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) was the top Blue Devil runner placing seventh in a time of 25:40.4 in the 8k race. Isaac Garcia-Cassani of Geneseo took first place in 24:54.1. A total of 114 runners competed.
The Devils placed three other runners in the Top 20. Graduate student Collin Mulcahy (Batavia/Batavia) was 13th in a time of 25:55.1, junior Merlin Joseph Jr. (Binghamton/Binghamton) was 18th in 26:26.3, and senior Bobby Cooper (Macedon/Gananda) was 19th in 26:32.6.
The fifth runner to score for Fredonia was sophomore Cyd Scott (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) in 37th place in a time of 27:17.2.
Displacement runners were junior Jack Erhard (Syracuse/West Genesee) in 39th in 27:24.0 and Zak Kellerman (Depew/Lancaster) in 48th in 27:48.9.
Geneseo was the team champion with seven runners all in the top 11 finishers.
Fredonia finished in front of Buffalo State and earned two points in the Battle By The Lake series. With the Fredonia women also earning two points, the Blue Devils lead the series 8-2.
