Fredonia's Camp COMETS (Creating Opportunities in Mathematics, Engineering, Technology, and Science) is a four-day camp designed to introduce talented middle school students to advanced concepts in mathematics, engineering, and science in fun, creative, and engaging ways.

The 8 a.m. until noon camp, slated for Aug. 15 through 18, will be held in Fenton Hall on campus. The camp is geared toward students entering grades six through eight.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in daily projects/laboratories simulating real-world situations that will stimulate imaginative thinking and problem solving. The camp is directed by Fredonia faculty from the Department of Mathematical Sciences. In addition, participants will be placed in teams headed by camp counselors, all of whom are New York State-certified mathematics teachers and master's degree candidates.

All campers will receive a camp t-shirt, as well as chances for additional awards and prizes. For application materials contact Dr. Keary Howard of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at keary.howard@fredonia.edu.
