The Fredonia State baseball team used five pitchers to work its way to a 4-2 non-conference victory at Pitt-Bradford on Sunday. Junior Thomas Morris (Syosset) got things started with three scoreless innings, and freshman Cody Herman (Ontario/Wayne) tossed the final two to pick up the victory.

Carl Wolf (Hilton) pitched 1 2/3 innings before giving way to Joey Tingue (Pine Valley), who worked out of a jam with runners at second and third. Tingue went 1 1/3 innings. Joe Korszun (Schenectady) was the next reliever and tossed a scoreless seventh.

Herman worked out of a jam in the eighth with the game tied 1-all. With one out and runners at second and third, he punched out the next two hitters. In the ninth, he worked out of a bases-loaded jam, retiring the game's final batter on a comebacker.

The Devils opened the scoring in the fifth. Scott Schuster (Livonia) reached base on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. He was driven in on a double by Conner Lorenzo (Rochester/Brighton).

Bradford tied the game in the bottom of the inning following two walks and a two-out base hit. Tingue then entered the game to quash the rally.

Tied 1-all into the ninth. Lorenzo was walked with one out. He stole second base and was driven in by Kenny Johnston (Buffalo/Kenmore West). A stolen base and a walk to Ciro Frontale set up Ricky Mendiola (Williamsville/Will. South). The slugging first baseman tripled to make it a 4-1 game.

Bradford managed a run and loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth before Herman got the final out.

Mendiola, Johnston and Lorenzo each had two hits for the Devils, who improved to 7-8 overall. Bradford fell to 11-5.

The Devils are slated to take on Penn State Behrend this Wednesday at Ludwig Field.
