Fredonia's Collin Mulcahy (Batavia/Batavia) opened his final collegiate men's cross country season with a first-place finish at Saturday's Blue Devil Invitational.

A 2015 NCAA meet participant, Mulcahy covered the five-kilometer home course in 16:03.11.An NCAA qualifier in both cross country and

track & field, Mulcahy is completing his collegiate eligility this semester. He covered the five-kilometer home course in 16:03.11 and finished directly ahead of sophomore Ethan Francis (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and senior Bobby Cooper (Macedon/Gananda), who crossed in 16:10.95 and 16:11.75, respectively.

Fredonia junior Merlin Joseph Jr. (Binghamton/Binghamton) was eighth and junior Jack Erhard (Syracuse/West Genesee) 16th to round out the scoring five. The two displacement finishers came from a pack of four: sophomore Zak Kellerman (Depew/Lancaster) and junior Cyd Scott (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel). The finished just ahead of freshman Kyle Egan (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) and freshman Aidan Pollard (Lindenhurst/Lindenhurst).

The Blue Devils were first in the team scoring with 30 points, 15 points ahead of Gannon. Mercyhurst finished third, Hilbert fourth, and D'Youville fifth. Gannon and Mercyhurst are NCAA Division II schools.
