Nick Martin (right), of Gowanda, N.Y., has been named by Residence Life as “Student of the Month” for the month of March at SUNY Fredonia. An honorary dinner will be held for Martin at Erie Dining Hall on Friday, April 29 at 12 p.m. General dining hall admission applies.
Martin is a senior TV and digital film major and will be graduating this May. Upon leaving Fredonia, Nick plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the television or film industry. He has worked as a resident assistant, executive producer of WNYF-TV, and data communications student assistant.
Nominated for the award by Joe Baxter, network security administrator at Information Technology Services, Nick has made a good impression on the people he serves and works with in the residence life area. “Nick has helped his community as an R.A. and generally awesome guy,” Baxter said. “He has contributed to our department by being a great employee, helping the campus deal with networking issues and wiring new locations.”
Martin said he has loved his time at Fredonia. “Fredonia is where I decided my future," he said. "It’s a place where you recognize people in the hallways. People are friends and acquaintances as opposed to just another stranger.”
The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
