A thorough overview of modern Italian culture will be offered during the May Term at SUNY Fredonia in an online course -- LANG: An overview of Italian Culture and Civilization -- offered by the SUNY Fredonia Department of Modern Languages & Literatures. The three-credit course, arranged in four modules or themes (geography, identities, media and culture and society), is designed for students seeking a comprehensive overview of Italy that addresses literature, language, art, popular music, cinema, history, politics, design, fashion and mass media over a span of time, with a particular focus after 1945. The class will frame Italy within an historical and cultural context of Europe.

Previous knowledge of the Italian language is not a prerequisite for the course. For more information, contact Dr. Chiara De Santi at desanti@fredonia.edu.
