In an effort to connect with the larger community of Fredonia, Orchesis, Fredonia's student-run dance company, is hosting the first ever Department Dance-Off. Representatives from several departments across campus will be performing choreographed dance routines with Orchesis dancers and choreographers.

The event will be held in the Steele Hall Arena on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center for $3 or at the door. The winning group will be selected via text-in poll by the audience, so the campus community is urged to show their support and be a part of the new event.

Participating professors include Dean Ralph Blasting from the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Dr. Susan McGee and Iclal Vanwesenbeeck from the Department of English, Dr. Sherri Mason, coordinator of the Environmental Sciences program; Kim Weborg-Benson from the Department of Geosciences, Incubator Program Manager Monica Kemp from the Fredonia Technology Incubator, Associate Director of Human Resources Jodi Rzepka, and Diane Everett from the Department of World Languages and Cultures. They will be groovin’ to classics such as “Lose Control,” “1-2 Step,” “Telephone,” “You Should Be Dancing,” “Single Ladies” and “Royals.”

Everyone is encouraged to come join the fun, watch, and vote for their favorite departmental dancers.
