The Career Development Office, the Office of Volunteer & Community Service, and the Convocation Committee are presenting a panel discussion on “Career Opportunities in Public Service: Translating Volunteerism into a Meaningful Career," on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 4:30 p.m. in Williams Center Room S104.

The focus is to educate students about public service as a volunteering, internship and career option. The panelists will promote the virtues of volunteering and community involvement both as an intrinsically good thing to do and as having a positive effect on one’s career (or actually BECOMING one’s career). This event is open to the entire SUNY Fredonia community, and anyone interested in learning more about public service is strongly encouraged to attend.

The panelists will include:

  • Vince Horrigan, Executive Director, American Red Cross of Southwestern NY;
  • Martha Diaz, AmeriCorps VISTA, Volunteer/ Community Services, Office of Campus Life,  and SUNY Fredonia graduate;
  • Lisa Binsley, Serve New York Manager, WNY AmeriCorps;
  • Mike Rivera, Chairman of the Board, The Belle Center-Erie Regional Housing Development Corp;
  • Kathleen Peterson, Executive Director, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry Inc.
