Associate Professor Dustin Parsons of the Department of English had his essay, “Pumpjack,” selected as a “Notable” work for the 2014 Best American Essays by the guest editor John Jeremiah Sullivan.

The essay originally appeared in Crab Orchard Review in late 2013. The Best American series chooses a small percentage of essays published from a diverse array of publications for consideration and notable status. Other essays published in the last six months appeared in magazines such as New Delta Review, Indiana Review, and Fugue. His newest essays are forthcoming in the premier electronic journal of text and art, DIAGRAM, and in Pleiades.
