“The Grounds,” a story written by Department of English Associate Professor Dustin Parsons, is featured in the fall print edition of Normal School, a national literary magazine published at California State University at Fresno.
The story is about a girl who moves from town to town during her grade school years, living on the grounds of psychiatric hospitals where her mother works. She experiences difficulty trying to fit in due to her unique situation.
Normal School publishes nonfiction, fiction, poetry, criticism and journalism.
Parsons, who recently won the Laurel Review Fiction prize, has written essays that have appeared in the online version of Normal School as well as in Natural Bridge, DIAGRAM and Zone 3.
