Fredonia’s Women’s Student Union, the Vagina Monologues, Pride Alliance and the Queer Studies in Literature class will be hosting a poetry spotlight on queer inter-partner violence on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room 209.

The organizers intend to use poetry as an artistic way to bring attention to domestic violence and assault on underrepresented communities, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community. Tickets are $3 each and are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center, with all proceeds benefitting The Salvation Army Anew Center for domestic violence in Jamestown, as well as V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.

Students, faculty, staff and members of the local community are invited to attend the reading and present their own poetry about domestic violence. All types of poetry are welcome.

For more information regarding the event, including presenting original poetry, contact Amanda Ongley at ongl9471@fredonia.edu.
