On the dawn of her third year as president of Fredonia, President Virginia Horvath received a Women of Influence Award, an annual honor sponsored by Lake Shore Savings Bank to recognize women throughout Western New York for their contributions to the community.
Dr. Horvath was one of five recipients in the nonprofit leadership category, which recognizes women who display high energy and skill in a leadership role at a nonprofit institution or organization.
Horvath was one of only two award recipients from an institution of higher education. A total of 27 women in 10 categories, which included community supporter, corporate executive, creativity, public policy and entrepreneur, were similarly honored. Richanne Mankey, vice president of Daemen College, also received the award.
Business First hosted the sold-out awards luncheon held Sept. 16 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens.
