Every semester, Pride Alliance hosts Dragapalooza. The drag show allows important opportunities for community building, as it brings together students, alumni, and community members to watch some talented and entertaining performers.

The fall semester show will be Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Tickets are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center at $3 for students and $4 for general admission).

Headliner Kimmi Moore will be joined by alumni performers Sinistra and He Shaggwell. Current students will compete for the titles of Mr. and Mrs. Queer Fredonia.

The event provides Fredonia students with an opportunity to express their identity and feel that however they appear, they will be welcome on the Fredonia campus. Pride Alliance Social Events Chair Graham Caulfield observed that the drag show “gives students in the MOGII (Marginalized Orientations, Gender Identities, and Intersex) community a chance to express themselves in ways that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to do.” He also noted that a portion of the proceeds from the show will go to the Breaking Binaries Fund, which helps students that identify under the transgender umbrella to pay for transition-related costs.

“The drag show gives back to the campus community in multiple ways,” Caulfield concluded.

Sponsors include the Pride Alliance and the Student Association.
