Associate Professor Birger Vanwesenbeeck of the Department of English has written a book review published in the latest issue of the Journal of Austrian Studies (University of Nebraska Press). Vanwesenbeeck reviews George Prochnik’s “The Impossible Exile,” a new biography of the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig.
Earlier this year, Vanwesenbeeck also published the co-edited volume, “Stefan Zweig and World Literature,” the first scholarly study about Zweig to appear in English in over 25 years. Fredonia’s Reed Library is home to an archival collection of Zweig, whose life and works have recently experienced a global revival.
