SUNY Fredonia is partnering with the Chautauqua County Visitors’ Bureau and its branding initiative: “Chautauqua County, the World’s Learning Center," by offering short, noncredit courses during "Chautauqua in June," May 25 through June 17, prior to the Chautauqua Institution's famed summer season. Visitors to the area might want to participate – making their stay a kind of “learning vacation.”
Director of Lifelong Learning Eric Skowronski has invited the campus community members to propose courses, seminars or workshops they could lead under the aegis of "The Fredonia Academy." SUNY Fredonia is also participating in a fall counterpart, "Colors of Chautauqua," which will span October 5-21.
Now in its second year, the first "Chautauqua In June" offered more than 60 leisure learning experiences to visitors and local residents, Skowronski said. "The promotion helped attract visitors to the county and significantly increased visitor and media awareness about our area. Our goal this year is to continue to increase visitation in the time frame immediately before and following the busy summer period," he added.
Courses, seminars, and workshops may be offered during the day or evening, on the weekend or on weekdays. Instructors, trainers, and facilitators will be compensated. For further information, contact Skowronski.
