The Department of Psychology recently inducted 48 students to the Psi Chi international honor society and presented several departmental awards.The ceremony was held in the Williams Center Horizon Room. Catherine Creeley, assistant professor of psychology, served as keynote speaker, giving a motivation speech called, "Just Do It."

Students recognized as recipients of department awards included:

• Department Merit Award: Jill Burgess, senior, Psychology major, Rochester, N.Y.

• Honorable Mention Merit Award: Stacey Caron, senior, Psychology major, Newfane

• Virginia Sexton Memorial Award: Gabriella Pietropaolo, senior, Psychology major, Rochester, N.Y.

• Don Lehr Teaching Award: Sarah Anderson, senior, Psychology and Philosophy major, Rochester, N.Y.: Jessica Pelz, senior, Psychology major, Silver Creek; and Ms. Caron.

For Fall 2014, students received the following awards:

• Department Merit Award: Ms. Anderson

• Don Lehr Teaching Award: Ms. Burgess

To eligible for membership, students must achieve an overall GPA of at least 3.25 and a 3.0 GPA or above in their major or minor psychology program.
