Reed Library, in cooperation with the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), is pleased to announce that “The Big Read” book selection for 2015 is F. Scott Fitzgerald's, “The Great Gatsby."
The 1925 novel is narrated by fictional character, Nick Carraway, and takes place during the Roaring Twenties. Carraway moves to West Egg, Long Island to seek his fortune as a bonds salesman, and his life suddenly changes when he meets Jay Gatsby, a man with an interesting story.
The events of The Big Read kick off the week of March 23, with many activities throughout Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, for a complete list, visit www.fredonia.edu/library/.
The events are free and open to the community.
The Big Read is an initiative of the NEA designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. The NEA presents The Big Read in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and in cooperation with Arts Midwest.
