School of Music professor Jill Reese co-presented, "Think Before You Kitch: Ukulele as an Agent of Change," with Robin Geibelhausen of the University of New Mexico, and Nate Kruse, Case Western Reserve University, at the 59th annual National Conference of the College Music Society, held Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 27-29, in Santa Fe, N.M.
The presentation focused on how the ukulele can be used for social, personal and pedagogical transformation and explored implications for community musicians, academia and teacher educators.
The College Music Society, whose members include college, conservatory, university and independent musicians and scholars interested in all disciplines of music, promotes music teaching and learning, musical creativity and expression, research and dialogue, diversity and interdisciplinary interaction.
