Repairs and cleanup are underway in Maytum Hall after a steam pipe burst Monday evening.

The failure occurred on the fourth floor of Maytum around 7:45 p.m. Water from the pipe flooded a section of the fourth floor, and also caused damage on the third and second floors of the building.

No one was injured in the incident. However, the force of the pipe's failure damaged a wall on the fourth floor. Additionally, water has damaged office spaces, furniture and computers. The Fredonia Fire Department Monday responded Monday evening to make sure the area was safe for university employees to enter the building.

Facilities Services employees worked late into the night Monday evening to repair the leak. The building's heating system is back online. The custodial staff extracted the carpets and removed the standing water. Fans are running to help dry out the carpet.

While the situation has not impacted classes on campus, some offices in Maytum may be closed or temporarily relocated during the cleanup. The university will continue to update the campus via email, and on Fredonia's Facebook and Twitter pages.
