Sam Rokos (Delanson/Duanesburg) took home three individual wins and a relay when the Fredonia women's swimming and diving team opened its season at Allegheny College on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Rokos claimed the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.83), the 100-yard free (56.12) and the 100-yard I.M. (1:04.74). In addition, she combined with Danielle Dembrow (Lockport/Lockport), Chelsea Spiegel (Spencerport/Spencerport) and Taylor Chwalinski (West Seneca/West Seneca) to win the 400-free relay in a time of 4:00.72.

Dembrow added a pair of individual wins in the 50-yard breast stroke (34.00) and the 100-yard breast stroke (1:13.69).

Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown/Johnstown) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards with scores of 211.00 and 227.34, respectively.

Speigel touched first in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 32.77.

After the meet, head coach Arthur Wang felt his team saw what needs to be accomplished to be successful in the season ahead. "There are some good aspects for having a meet this early, but there are some things we know we need to work at."

The team is off next weekend before heading to Niagara University on Oct. 17.
