Select faculty and students in the School of Music will be featured in Constellation Concerts, an initiative designed for prospective students, their families and the community.
“Each concert reaches across instrumental areas to offer an hour’s worth of high caliber faculty and student performances. These events are curated especially for those students and their families who will be in Fredonia for Audition Days, but everyone is welcome,” said Natasha Farny, concert series co-coordinator and cello professor.
Rosch Recital Hall will host the free concerts that begin on Friday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. The inaugural program will feature Distinguished Professor James Piorkowski performing his composition “In the Shadow of Winter’s Moon.” David Colwell and Fr. Sean Duggan will play the first and fourth movements (Allegro and Presto Agitato) from Johannes Brahms’ Sonata in D minor for Violin and Piano, Op. 108. Distinguished Professor Kay Stonefelt and students in the Percussion Area will perform “A Minute of News” by Eugene Novotney. Additional concerts, also at 8 p.m., will be presented on the following Fridays: Feb. 2, 9 and 23.
Now in its third year, Constellation Concerts provide another opportunity for future students to gain a realistic idea of what it would be like to study music at Fredonia. Attendees will also be able to meet music faculty and students during informal receptions that follow each concert.
