Sigma Kappa Sorority will be hosting its annual Relay for Life fundraiser, “Jammin’ for Jessa,” on Monday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in the Fredonia Ticket Office.
There will be performances from different a cappella groups throughout the night in addition to raffles with prizes. The annual event is held in memory of Jessa Webber, a member of Sigma Kappa who passed away as a result of cancer in 2010.
Proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life and Jessa’s Quest, a non-profit foundation created in Webber’s honor to raise funds that support organizations caring for children with life‐threatening illnesses and contribute to research for finding a cure for brain cancer.
Despite being diagnosed with a brain tumor while attending Kenmore West High School, Webber enrolled at Fredonia in 2007 to study business. During her time as a student, she was dedicated to Sigma Kappa and participated in the a variety of philanthropic events, such as the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and continued her support for Relay for Life, which she began in high school. After a seven year battle with cancer, Webber passed away during her junior year in 2010.
