Each week, Fredonia’s campus chapter of Sigma Xi, the International Scientific Research Honor Society, hosts presentations of speakers across campus and surrounding area. The next guest speaker is Mary Plumb, a mathematics teacher from Falconer Central School.

Ms. Plumb’s presentation, “Mistakes are Awesome!” is slated for Friday, Feb. 24 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Major Alice Sam conference room located in the Science Center. Her talk will be about encouraging growth in the mindsets of students in math and science courses.

Sigma Xi is an international, multidisciplinary community of science and engineering professionals dedicated to research excellence, to promoting public engagement with science, and to fostering the next generation of researchers. Fredonia’s chapter of Sigma Xi hosts brown bag events every Friday at noon. The talks and presentations are usually related to teaching science or about a topic in which the speaker is conducting research. This event is free of charge and open to all campus and community members.

For more information regarding Sigma Xi’s guest speakers or Plumb’s presentation, contact Dr. Joseph McFall at 716-673-3891 or via email.
