The professor twosome of Drs. Nancy Boynton and Joseph McFall will present the talk, “Reproducibility of Science: In the Lab and in the Classroom,” at the weekly Sigma Xi presentation on Friday, March 31, at noon, in the Major Alice Sam Conference Room in the Science Center third floor.
In her presentation, Department of Mathematical Sciences Professor Boynton will discuss the importance of reproducibility of research and the challenges of determining reproducibility in the lab. Psychology professor McFall - currently part of a national psychological research replication project that recruits undergraduate student teams to replicate significant and surprising psychology findings - will discuss reproducibility in the classroom.
Students in Dr. McFall’s Advanced Research Methods course are participating in the project.
The lecture series, hosted by the international scientific research honor society, is free and open to the public.
