Gurmukh Singh, senior lecturer in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, recently published a scholarly paper, “Wavelet Analysis of Particle Density Functions in Nucleus-Nucleus Interactions” in the International Journal of Modern Physics, Vol. E27, Issue 01.

The scholarly work was accomplished with Dr. A Mukhopadhyay of North Bengal University in Darjeeling, India. It involved collection, analysis, and simulation of two big data sets obtained from two experiments conducted at The European Center of Nuclear Research in Geneva, Switzerland.

Dr. Singh explained that the wavelet analysis technique is used to find hidden patterns existing in big data sets, which is similar to targeting a given audience who frequently purchases particular goods or medications often. He added that pattern recognition is a common technique that attracts a lot of attention in multiple research areas of computer science, electrical engineering and physics. In late January, Singh also reviewed an international scholarly paper based on multi-fractals research work, which was submitted for publication in the The Canadian Journal of Physics.

Singh has been involved in the field of multi-fractals research for over 25 years and published over 30 research articles in reputed international journals. He also was named Fredonia’s Kasling Lecturer in 2007. To view more Singh’s scholarly activities, refer to the following link online.
