The International Education Center will be hosting the seventh annual 5k Slush Rush on Sunday, March 29.
The race kicks off at 9 a.m. outside of Steele Hall, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. inside Steele. The course will remain on campus, with finishers completing the race at Steele Hall.
The event is a benefit to raise money for the Xylia Peterson '85 Memorial Fund in the Fredonia College Foundation, which provides scholarships to junior and senior full-time international students at Fredonia.
Participants may register online or through the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center. The first 100 registrants will receive a t-shirt, and all participants are invited to a post-race party with awards and prizes. Students are especially encouraged to register, and will receive a discounted registration fee until the week before the race.
Dubbed the “Slush Rush” because of the snowy weather, the race is held in remembrance of Ms. Peterson, an international student at Fredonia who went on to become an important, contributing member of the community. Coming from Sri Lanka, Peterson graduated from Fredonia with a degree in Business Administration.
Volunteers are also needed for the event, and will work from 8 to 11:00 a.m. and will have access to the post-race party. If interested, contact Assistant Director of Study Abroad and Exchange Programs Erin Willis at willis@fredonia.edu.
