A launch party for Solar Chautauqua Campaign, which counts the university among its network of supporters, will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Jamestown Community College’s North Campus.
Solar Chautauqua’s mission is to facilitate residential and business solar power installations in Northern Chautauqua County, providing information on benefits of solar-generated power, financing options and the permitting process.
Refreshments will be served at the launch party and children are welcomed.
Solar Chautauqua is run by the Coalition to Solarize Chautauqua County, an alliance of local organizations, and led by a five-member board. Serving on the board are Mary Croxton, Diane Hofner, Scott Mackay, Mary Jane Wagner and Dr. Julia Wilson. Fredonia Professor Emeritus Minda Rae Amiran serves as an advisor.
Grants from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and Freshwater Future help to support the organization.
In addition to the university, supporting organizations include Academy Heights Neighborhood Group, Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development, Cornell University Cooperative Extension, Cornell Institute for Climate Change and Agriculture, Fredonia Elementary Parent Teacher Association, Fredonia Presbyterian Church, Revitalize Dunkirk, Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, Town of Pomfret, Town of Portland, Village of Fredonia, Village of Brocton, Greystone Nature Preserve and Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua.
