Frappuccino and latte lovers rejoice! The only Starbucks in northern Chautauqua County is open again in University Commons.
The agreement between Fredonia and the Seattle-based coffee giant mandates that stores undergo renovations every 10 years. "At first we were reticent on giving up the eclectic, artsy, feel of the original store, said Darin Schulz, Faculty Student Association executive director. “However, we are extremely pleased with the clean, sleek, modern look of the new design and feel the campus and surrounding community will feel the same."
Renovations, which started at the end of the spring semester, include new seating, new paint, décor and flooring. In addition, some fixtures were moved. The end result is a much more contemporary feel for customers.
The University Commons location opened in 2006 and, at the time, was the only Starbucks franchise in all of Chautauqua County. An average of six FSA employees per shift work at the store, which will be open for summer hours Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 to 4 p.m. For more information on Starbucks and other FSA functions, check out Fredonia FSA.
