SUNY Distinguished Professor Kay Stonefelt of the School of Music has been named the 2018 recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music.
Dr. Stonefelt will be celebrated and perform at the Conservatory Convocation on Thursday, March 15, at 3:10 p.m. at the Gamble Auditorium at 96 Front St., Berea, Ohio, which is free and open to the public. In addition to this honor, Stonefelt received a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005 and was promoted to the rank of SUNY Distinguished Professor in 2014. In 2016 she received the Percussive Arts Society Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Education. In October 2017, a scholarship was established in her honor in the Fredonia College Foundation. Stonefelt joined the Fredonia School of Music faculty in 1993 while she was concurrently the recipient of a Fulbright Senior Scholar Research Grant to Ghana, West Africa.
