The Fredonia School of Music's full-time string faculty will travel to Long Island during the week of Sept. 25 for performances and workshops with high school string students. Participating faculty include Dr. David Colwell (violin), David Rose (viola), Dr. Natasha Farny (cello) and the newest full-time string faculty member, Kieran Hanlon (double bass).
"I am very much looking forward to my first recruiting trip with the Fredonia School of Music string faculty," Mr. Hanlon said before beginning the tour. "It will be great to meet and engage with many high school students from across the state and to spend time traveling and presenting with my tremendous new colleagues."
The group will visit five Long Island high schools including Mt. Sinai, Hauppauge, Commack, Syosset and Paul Schreiber, in four days.
"We're excited to hit the road and visit some terrific high schools," said Mr. Rose, "to see old friends and make new ones, to share music with the teachers and students."
The School of Music regularly sends out faculty and student ensembles to perform, conduct clinics and serve as ambassadors for the university. For more information about upcoming events in the School of Music, visit www.fredonia.edu/music.
